About Me
Dr. Shelly H. Watson is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and cataract care. She treats the spectrum of corneal disease—including Fuchs dystrophy and keratoconus—and performs cataract surgery and modern corneal transplantation techniques. Dr. Watson combines precise surgical skill with comprehensive medical management for patients with complex cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes-related eye disease, and other conditions.
A summa cum laude graduate and valedictorian of Dickinson College, she received her MD from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, completed ophthalmology residency at George Washington University (where she served as Chief Resident and earned the Mervin Zimmerman Award of Excellence), and pursued fellowship training in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. Patients describe her as kind, thorough, and detail-oriented—a surgeon who listens and explains options clearly so they can make confident decisions about their vision.
