About Me
Dr. Sheel Patel is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cornea/refractive surgery specialist at Cape Fear Eye Associates. He completed his medical training at Kent State University/Northeast Ohio Medical University and his ophthalmology residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, where he served as chief resident. He also completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital/Wilmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Patel specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK, and the treatment of keratoconus. He performs a range of corneal surgeries, including full-thickness corneal transplants (penetrating keratoplasty) and partial-thickness transplants (DSAEK). He is experienced with advanced laser systems such as the Wavelight EX500 and VISX, as well as IntraLase technology for LASIK flap creation and Intacs procedures. His approach is focused on providing improved vision and quality of life for his patients.
Dr. Patel is also an assistant professor at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine and Drexel University College of Medicine. He is a partner at Cape Fear Eye Associates and serves on the Medical Executive Committee at Fayetteville Ambulatory Surgery Center.
