About Me
Salman Porbandarwalla, MD, MS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with high honors and a minor in Finance at the University of Texas in Austin. He completed his Master’s degree in Biophysics at The Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and graduated medical school with honors at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
During medical school, he received the prestigious Bowen Vogyt Award. He completed a medical internship at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania where he was awarded intern of the year. Dr. Porbandarwalla finished his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, serving as chief resident. He further specialized with a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Dr. Porbandarwalla is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, PA Medical Society, and PA Academy of Ophthalmology. His clinical interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, uveitis, hypertensive retinopathy, optic neuropathy, and surgical repair of retinal detachments and macular conditions. He has been residing in Lancaster, Pennsylvania since 2014.
