About Me
Roya Garakani, DO, OD, is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Utah’s John A. Moran Eye Center. Fellowship-trained in glaucoma, she cares for adults with the full spectrum of the disease and performs cataract surgery when appropriate. Dr. Garakani values clear, collaborative communication and takes time to explain testing and treatment options so patients can make confident, informed choices.
She completed glaucoma fellowship training at the Moran Eye Center after serving as chief resident during ophthalmology residency at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Her background also includes a transitional residency at Broward Health, an MS in Vision Science, and both DO and OD professional degrees. Dr. Garakani has published peer-reviewed research and sees patients at the Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City.
