About Me
Dr. Iqbal “Ike” Ahmed is a glaucoma, cataract, and anterior segment surgeon known for managing complex eye conditions and surgical complications. At the John A. Moran Eye Center, he directs the Alan S. Crandall Center for Glaucoma Innovation and cares for patients with a full range of glaucoma types as well as challenging cataracts and intraocular lens problems. Patients often seek him for second opinions and solutions that minimize risk and recovery while protecting long-term vision.
Dr. Ahmed completed a glaucoma and anterior segment fellowship at the University of Utah’s Moran Eye Center after ophthalmology residency and medical training at the University of Toronto. His background also includes internship training at the University of Toronto and undergraduate studies at McMaster University. He helped define the field of Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) and has developed instruments and surgical techniques used worldwide. In the clinic and operating room, he works closely with each patient to choose the right combination of drops, lasers, MIGS, or conventional surgery for durable results.
