Dr. Robert Tauscher

Dr. Robert Tauscher is a pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus specialist who cares for children and adults with eye alignment and visual development concerns. At UAB Medicine, his practice focuses on conditions such as crossed eyes, lazy eye, and complex motility disorders, as well as routine pediatric eye care. He completed medical school at Vanderbilt, followed by an internship at Presence Resurrection Medical Center and an ophthalmology residency at Northwestern. He then pursued a fellowship at Duke, further specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.

Dr. Tauscher works closely with families to create care plans that fit each child’s needs, whether that means glasses, patching, prisms, or surgery. He takes time to explain test results in family-friendly language and to address questions about vision, school performance, and long-term prognosis. By combining advanced training with a gentle, patient approach, he aims to make visits less stressful and help children build lifelong habits for healthy vision.
