About Me
Dr. Robert A. Lalane III is a vitreoretinal surgeon who cares for patients with medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. A South Florida native, he joined Retina Group of Florida after beginning his vitreoretinal surgery career at Southeast Retina Center in Augusta, Georgia.
Dr. Lalane graduated summa cum laude from Duke University and remained there for medical training, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. During medical school, he completed a basic-science research year at the Duke University Eye Center studying aqueous humor proteomics and investigating a topical rho-kinase inhibitor in a mouse model of glaucoma.
He completed a transitional residency at Indiana University, followed by ophthalmology residency at the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at UCLA, caring for patients and teaching residents across multiple hospital systems.
