About Me
Dr. Richard Kaplan is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon with Connecticut Retina Consultants. He treats retinal diseases including retinal detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease, complications after cataract surgery, and ocular trauma. His clinical approach emphasizes minimizing patient stress, maximizing comfort, and delivering exceptional evidence-based care for these sight-threatening conditions.
Dr. Kaplan is a Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate of George Washington University. He completed a post-baccalaureate Pre-Health Program at Rutgers University, earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, and he is accepting new patients.
