About Me
Dr. Razek G. Coussa is a vitreoretinal surgeon with broad expertise spanning adult and pediatric retina, inherited retinal diseases, and complex vitreoretinal surgery. Before joining Retina & Vitreous Consultants of Wisconsin, he served as a clinical assistant professor and adult/pediatric vitreoretinal surgeon at the Dean McGee Eye Institute, where he founded a retinal gene therapy center and performed FDA-approved subretinal gene therapy. Dr. Coussa completed ophthalmology residency at McGill University and pursued four years of advanced fellowships: Pediatric Ophthalmology and Inherited Retinal Diseases at the Cole Eye Institute (Cleveland Clinic), Medical Retina and Molecular Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa, and Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at the University of Iowa. His background also includes engineering and biomedical training at McGill and an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge. He is committed to translating research into compassionate, state-of-the-art patient care.
