Dr. Randall Stein

Dr. Randall Stein is an ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma management, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and cataract surgery at Horizon Eye Care's Charlotte area locations. He has been practicing since 2016 and takes pride in offering his patients the newest and safest treatment options available. Dr. Stein was the first doctor in Charlotte to perform two new and innovative minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries and was also the first doctor in North Carolina to administer DURYSTA™, a biodegradable sustained release glaucoma implant that represents a paradigm shift in the treatment of glaucoma. He continues to remain at the leading edge of new glaucoma treatment options as he strives to provide excellent care for his patients.

Dr. Stein graduated cum laude from Tulane University and went on to receive his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania before returning to New Orleans to finish his three-year Residency in Ophthalmology at Tulane University. He received further subspecialty training in Glaucoma at UNC Chapel Hill where he completed a Glaucoma fellowship. Outside of medicine, Dr. Stein loves being dad to his two children and two fur babies, woodworking, brewing beer, hiking, camping and cooking. He earned his SCUBA certification back in 2017 and has since loved exploring under the sea in different regions of the world.
