About Me
Dr. Rachel D. Ellyn is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on modern glaucoma and cataract surgery. She performs microinvasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) and traditional procedures and offers cataract surgery with advanced technology and astigmatism-correcting lens options. In addition to glaucoma, she treats diabetic eye disease, dry eye, macular degeneration, eye infections, and ocular trauma. Patients appreciate her clear communication and collaborative, patient-first approach.
A Charleston native, Dr. Ellyn earned her MD at the Medical University of South Carolina and completed ophthalmology residency at the University of South Carolina, where she served as chief resident. She then completed a surgical glaucoma fellowship at Callahan Eye Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society and is excited to care for patients back home in the Lowcountry.
