About Me
Dr. Rachel Gelman is a board-certified ophthalmologist in McAllen, Texas, who specializes in corneal conditions, cataract surgery, and laser vision correction. She is the only eye doctor in the Rio Grande Valley performing corneal transplant procedures. Dr. Gelman utilizes the latest technology, including robotic laser cataract surgery, to provide customized care for her patients.
Born and raised in McAllen, Dr. Gelman graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas-Pan American. She earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Gelman then undertook a fellowship in cornea, anterior segment, and refractive surgery at the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute of the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Gelman is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Cornea Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She is committed to the early diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, providing a full range of eye care services to the McAllen community.
