About Me
Dr. Phillip Braun is an assistant professor of ophthalmology who provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care. Originally trained in the humanities, he earned a BA in Classics from Princeton University, completed his MD at Yale School of Medicine, and went on to ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester’s Flaum Eye Institute. His academic work spans advanced retinal imaging, innovative diagnostics, and the study of age-related macular degeneration, and he is equally passionate about education and mentorship for trainees.
In clinic, Dr. Braun partners with patients to create thoughtful, evidence-based treatment plans—whether addressing cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, or urgent problems like infections and injuries. He strives to explain options in plain language and to match care to each patient’s life and goals. Patients value his calm manner, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality outcomes for both routine and complex eye conditions.
