About Me
Dr. Peter A. Netland is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. He serves as a Professor and the Glaucoma Fellowship Program Director at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where he provides comprehensive care for patients with various forms of glaucoma, including open-angle and angle-closure glaucoma. Dr. Netland is experienced in advanced surgical treatments such as trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage implants, and laser therapy.
Dr. Netland completed his clinical fellowship in glaucoma and his ophthalmology residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School. He holds an MD from the University of California, San Francisco, a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from Harvard University, and an AB from Princeton University. His career includes leadership roles in glaucoma services at multiple academic institutions.
At the University of Virginia, Dr. Netland leads the glaucoma fellowship program and focuses on preserving vision through individualized treatment plans for patients with glaucoma.
