About Me
Dr. Michael A. Krause is an Assistant Professor and the Associate Residency Program Director in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA. His clinical specialty is glaucoma, and he is committed to managing this complex eye disease to preserve and improve patients' vision.
With extensive training, Dr. Krause completed a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 2022, where he gained specialized skills. Prior to that, he finished his ophthalmology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Cole Eye Institute in Cleveland, OH, in 2021. He earned his MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 2017 and holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, awarded in 2015, which underscores his research expertise. His undergraduate degree in Spanish and Biology was obtained from Washington University in St. Louis in 2007.
As a faculty member, Dr. Krause is actively involved in teaching residents and fellows, ensuring the next generation of eye care providers is well-trained. He provides comprehensive glaucoma care, including medical, laser, and surgical treatments, tailored to each patient's needs.
