Dr. Patrick Costello

Dr. Patrick A. Costello is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience, providing comprehensive medical and surgical eye care. He is dedicated to offering personalized attention and the highest level of care to every patient. Dr. Costello treats a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, with a particular focus on cataract surgery, including advanced femto-laser assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), and glaucoma management through both traditional and micro-invasive techniques. He also performs eyelid surgery for both medical and cosmetic purposes, including cancer excision and reconstruction.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Costello has been involved in surgical center leadership and medical education. He co-founded the Griffiss Surgery Center in Rome, NY, and has served as its Chief Executive and Chief Medical Officer. He holds faculty appointments at SUNY Upstate Medical University and has taught residents and medical students. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Costello's extensive experience includes implanting premium lens technologies and performing over 25,000 surgeries. He practices at Griffiss Surgery Center and A.O. Fox Hospital, serving patients across central New York.
