Dr. Mukesh Kumar

Mukesh Kumar, MD, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with SightMD New York who cares for adults with cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and other medical eye conditions. He provides both routine and surgical care, including cataract surgery and the medical management of complex ocular disease. Dr. Kumar completed medical school at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, ophthalmology residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he served as chief resident, and an internal medicine internship at Northwell Health. He sees patients in the Plainview and Smithtown offices on Long Island.

Dr. Kumar’s philosophy is to educate and involve patients in every step of their care. He takes time to explain diagnoses and options so people can make informed decisions that fit their goals. As a lifelong New Yorker, he enjoys serving the communities where he trained and lives.
