Dr. Michael Koop

Dr. Michael R. Koop is a board-certified general ophthalmologist at Texas Eye Institute, providing medical and surgical eye care to patients in the Houston/Galveston and Brazoria County areas. He utilizes advanced techniques including no-stitch cataract surgery with premium lens implants, glaucoma management, pterygium and anterior segment procedures, LASIK, and laser vision correction. Dr. Koop also offers Botox injections for ocular medical conditions and facial cosmetics.

Dr. Koop earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Houston Ophthalmologic Society, and American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has hospital privileges at multiple facilities in the region.
