About Me
Dr. Michael K. Lam is a retina specialist at Houston Retina Associates in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Sugar Land, Texas, and earned a degree in Biochemistry with highest honors from the University of California at Berkeley, where he was a Regents' scholar. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern, completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago (where he served as Chief Resident), and a fellowship in retinal diseases and vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Texas and Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Dr. Lam has also served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he trained young retinal surgeons.
Dr. Lam's clinical expertise centers on the medical and surgical treatment of retinal conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, and vitreous hemorrhage. He is dedicated to providing care for underserved populations as a Global Impact Fellow for Unite for Sight, and has conducted clinical research on glaucoma risk in rural Ghana, West Africa.
