About Me
Dr. Matthew Bujak is an ophthalmologist based in Surrey, BC, who sub-specializes in corneal and cataract surgery. He completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto, where he received the Sopman Humanitarian Award for patient care. He further honed his skills through two corneal fellowships at prestigious institutions in the United States: the University of Southern California/Doheny Eye Institute and the University of Utah/Moran Eye Center.
Before relocating to British Columbia, Dr. Bujak spent nine years in an academic practice at the University of Toronto, where he continues to hold an appointment as an Assistant Professor. He provides cataract surgery with a special focus on complex and challenging cases, often seen in underserved populations and the developing world.
As a corneal specialist, Dr. Bujak performs a wide range of procedures including anterior segment reconstruction and all forms of corneal transplantation, such as DMEK, DSAEK, DALK, and penetrating keratoplasty. He also offers ocular surface surgeries and laser treatments for conditions like eye cancers, pterygiums, and keratoconus. Dr. Bujak is deeply committed to global eye health, having worked with numerous international organizations to provide care and training in over 10 countries.
