About Me
Mashal Akhter, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon who treats the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina conditions. Her interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, macular hole and epiretinal membrane, ocular inflammatory disease, and complex retinal detachment repair. Dr. Akhter earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute/Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she was recognized by her peers for compassionate care. She then completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Southern California Roski Eye Institute, serving as chief fellow.
