About Me
Dr. Maria J. Lopez is a cornea, anterior segment, and refractive surgeon serving patients in the Boston area. After earning her medical degree from the University Doctor José Matías Delgado in El Salvador, she completed a master’s degree in Ophthalmology at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, where she was honored as Chief Resident. In the United States, she pursued postdoctoral research fellowships at the Schepens Eye Research Institute/Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Harvard Medical School. She then completed ophthalmology residency at BronxCare Health System/Mount Sinai and advanced fellowship training in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery at the New England Eye Center/Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Lopez offers comprehensive surgical and medical care for corneal and refractive conditions, including LASIK and PRK, and guides patients through every step of the pre-operative and post-operative journey. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is committed to personalized, patient-centered care.
