About Me
Dr. Maria J. Lopez is a cornea and refractive surgeon based in Boston, MA, specializing in cornea and external disease. A native of El Salvador, she completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University Doctor Jose Matias Delgado and pursued a master's degree in Ophthalmology from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, where she was honored as Chief Resident.
Upon relocating to the United States, she conducted two Postdoctoral Research Fellowships at the Schepens Eye Research Institute/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School. She then completed an Ophthalmology residency at BronxCare Health Systems/Mount Sinai in New York and advanced fellowship training in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery at the New England Eye Center/Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Dr. Lopez's professional interests include cataract and refractive surgery, specifically LASIK and PRK. She provides personalized care and ensures her patients receive dedicated attention throughout the preoperative, surgical, and postoperative phases for optimal outcomes. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is committed to patient-centered care and is affiliated with several prestigious organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
