Dr. Lucy Xu

Dr. Lucy Xu is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon with the Retina Group of Washington. She received her medical degree from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, completed an ophthalmology residency at the Cole Eye Institute of the Cleveland Clinic, and pursued fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Emory University. Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, she has presented at national meetings and authored peer-reviewed work that informs patient care.

Dr. Xu believes excellent outcomes begin with understanding. She takes time to explain diagnoses, imaging, and treatment choices so patients and families can make confident, informed decisions together. Her practice includes medical and surgical care for macular disease, diabetic eye disease, retinal tears and detachments, and other vitreoretinal conditions. She partners closely with referring doctors and uses modern techniques such as sutureless vitrectomy and advanced imaging to deliver safe, effective, and individualized care.
