About Me
Dr. Desirée S. Ong is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist providing medical and surgical eye care to patients in Laurel, Maryland and the Washington, D.C. area. She focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of retinal conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and flashes and floaters. Dr. Ong also manages other eye conditions such as glaucoma and cataracts, offering comprehensive ophthalmology services.
Dr. Ong earned her bachelor's degree cum laude from Newcomb College of Tulane University and received her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She completed her internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia, and then pursued her ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and maintains memberships in the American Medical Association and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Ong is proficient in Dutch and Spanish, allowing her to communicate effectively with a diverse patient population. She is committed to providing personalized, high-quality eye care to help protect, preserve, and improve her patients' vision.
