Dr. Leon Lahaye

Dr. Leon C. LaHaye is a doctor of ophthalmology and the principal eye surgeon and medical director at his practice. His own childhood experience with severe nearsightedness sparked a lifelong passion for improving vision. He understands the limitations that less-than-perfect eyesight can impose, and that understanding drives his commitment to advancing eye care.

Dr. LaHaye focuses on refractive and cataract surgery, continually striving to refine the procedures he performs. He developed the LA HayeSIK system to improve the accuracy and safety of laser vision correction. He also performs cataract surgery, which he believes can restore not just sight but also a patient's quality of life, often making them feel years younger.

Beyond routine care, Dr. LaHaye has pioneered innovative surgical techniques, including a free conjunctival graft for pterygium surgery and the initial development of a laser internal sclerotomy for glaucoma. He was the first surgeon in Louisiana to perform sutureless cataract surgery and the first in the United States to perform automated lamellar keratotomy.
