About Me
Dr. Lauren Ditta is a neuro-ophthalmologist and ophthalmologist who provides specialized care for patients with complex eye conditions related to the nervous system. She serves as the Section Chief of Neuro-Ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center's Hamilton Eye Institute and is an Associate Professor, where she is involved in training future eye specialists. Dr. Ditta's expertise includes evaluating and managing conditions such as optic nerve disorders, double vision, and vision loss due to neurological diseases.
Dr. Ditta completed her medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in both pediatric ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. This dual fellowship training allows her to care for both children and adults with neuro-ophthalmic conditions, including those affecting the optic nerve, eye movement, and visual pathways.
Patients under Dr. Ditta's care can expect a comprehensive evaluation that considers the intricate relationship between the eyes and the brain. She works closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists to provide coordinated care for conditions such as optic neuritis, thyroid eye disease, and brain tumors affecting vision. Her approach emphasizes clear communication and individualized treatment plans to address each patient's unique needs.
