Dr. Khurram Malik

Dr. Khurram Malik is a retinal specialist and surgeon who founded Virginia Retina Specialists in 2016. He provides comprehensive retinal care to patients in Northern Virginia and has expanded the practice to include four locations with a team of six retina specialists. His surgical expertise includes retinal detachment repair and complex tractional retinal detachment repair.

Dr. Malik completed his retina fellowship at the National Retina Institute under the guidance of Dr. Bert Glaser. He previously served as an attending physician at NRI for five years. His residency in ophthalmology was at the University of Minnesota, where his retinal research was published and recognized with the Harry Friedman Research Award.

He is a frequent speaker on retinal laser technology, including subthreshold MicroPulse Laser applications for conditions like diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions. Dr. Malik's approach combines advanced surgical techniques with a focus on innovative treatments for retinal diseases.
