About Me
Dr. Lindsay Smithen is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in retinal and macular diseases. With extensive experience in the treatment of retinal disease, she has particular expertise in diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal vascular occlusions. She provides comprehensive medical and surgical retina care to her patients.
Dr. Smithen enjoyed an active career in academic medicine at George Washington University prior to entering private practice. She completed her ophthalmology residency and fellowship in retinal disease at the Tufts-New England Eye Center in Boston, a prestigious institution known for eye care excellence.
A native of New York, Dr. Smithen realized a childhood dream when she became a physician. She graduated from Princeton University with cum laude distinction and earned her medical degree from Cornell Medical School. Dr. Smithen is dedicated to helping patients understand the complexities of their retinal disease and works with each individual to formulate a patient-specific treatment plan. She believes that a physician-patient partnership is essential to achieving the best results.
