About Me
Dr. Lauren S. Taney is an ophthalmologist who specializes in the diagnosis and management of medical retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, inherited retinal disease, and retinal tears. She also practices comprehensive ophthalmology and works closely with patients to explain findings and create clear, practical treatment plans.
Dr. Taney joined Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons in 2014 after completing fellowship training in vitreoretinal disease at the New England Eye Center/Tufts Medical Center. She earned her medical degree at the University of Florida and completed ophthalmology residency training at Georgetown University Hospital and the Washington Hospital Center, as well as an internship in internal medicine at St. Agnes Hospital. Her clinical interests include retinal imaging and research in conditions such as macular degeneration and cystoid macular edema, and she is fluent in Spanish.
