About Me
Dr. Kenneth P. Kato is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specialized in cataract surgery and glaucoma care. He retired from clinical practice on June 27, 2025. Dr. Kato was born in Chicago and earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Michigan State University before graduating cum laude from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Florida.
During his career, Dr. Kato provided comprehensive eye care with a particular focus on small incision cataract surgery, premium lens implants, and the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, including laser procedures and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS). He also managed conditions such as dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction. In addition to his clinical work, he served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida State University Medical School.
Dr. Kato was a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Refractive Surgery, among other professional organizations. He donated his services through the We Care Network and Division of Blind Services. He was an active member of the Capital Medical Society and supported charitable organizations in the Tallahassee area.
