About Me
Dr. Kelly Ruland is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. A Virginia native, she is excited to care for families in the Richmond community and welcomes both children and adults. Dr. Ruland enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients and explaining diagnoses and treatment options in clear, friendly language so families can feel confident about every step of care.
Her clinical passions include pediatric strabismus, amblyopia, juvenile cataracts, congenital ptosis, and the evaluation and surgical management of adult ocular motility disorders and cataracts. Dr. Ruland earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. She completed an internship in general surgery and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Virginia, followed by a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Vanderbilt Eye Institute. Dr. Ruland is delighted to bring compassionate, detail-oriented eye care to patients of all ages.
