Dr. Kathryn Maier

Dr. Kathryn Maier is an ophthalmologist who specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. She cares for children with eye misalignment and visual development concerns and also helps adults with double vision related to eye muscle disorders. Families value her calm, collaborative style and the clear explanations she provides when discussing diagnoses, treatment choices, and what to expect before and after procedures.

Dr. Maier earned her medical degree at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she completed an internal medicine internship followed by an ophthalmology residency and was recognized as outstanding resident of the year. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Her clinical interests include pediatric and adult strabismus, amblyopia, congenital cataracts, and nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and she enjoys caring for adults with persistent double vision. She is committed to equitable access to eye care and has participated in international service trips.
