About Me
Dr. Kara C. LaMattina is an ophthalmologist at Boston Medical Center and an Assistant Professor at Boston University. As Director of the Uveitis Service, she cares for adults and children with ocular inflammation, helping patients understand the cause of uveitis and guiding treatment to protect vision and comfort. She treats both chronic and complex presentations and works closely with patients and families to create clear, step-by-step care plans.
Her clinical interests also include pediatric and adult strabismus, cataracts, amblyopia, retinopathy of prematurity, and sarcoidosis. Dr. LaMattina earned her undergraduate degree at Brown University and her medical degree at New York Medical College, then completed ophthalmology residency at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. She completed fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Wills Eye Hospital and additional fellowship training in Uveitis at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
