About Me
Dr. Kakarla Chalam is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal diseases at Loma Linda University Health. He treats a wide range of retinal conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachment, and hereditary retinal disorders. He also manages ocular tumors and uveitis.
Dr. Chalam completed his medical training at Albany Medical College and Guntur Medical College, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at Mary Immaculate Hospital. He pursued advanced fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology, ocular oncology, and retina at leading institutions, including McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
With expertise in procedures such as pars plana vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, laser surgery, and intravitreal injections, Dr. Chalam provides comprehensive care for patients with complex vitreoretinal conditions.
