About Me
Dr. Judy E. Kim is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center who specializes in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. She treats a range of retinal conditions including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, and retinal vein occlusion. Her clinical expertise includes retinal surgery, advanced ocular imaging, and teleophthalmology.
Dr. Kim is board certified in ophthalmology and previously served as a tenured professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin before joining UT Southwestern in 2024. In addition to her clinical work, she serves as Vice Chair of Education and Medical Director of Clinical Research. Her research focuses on diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, and big data.
Dedicated to advancing the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Kim has published over 200 papers and participated in more than 70 multicenter clinical trials. She has held leadership roles in numerous professional societies, including past president of the American Society of Retina Specialists. Her patient care approach emphasizes compassion and excellence.
