About Me
Dr. Liu was born in Miaoli, Taiwan, and raised in eastern Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate degree at Harvard College and earned a Master’s degree in the History of Medicine at Harvard University. She received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, followed by an internship at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Liu then completed a residency in General Ophthalmology and a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Liu is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She specializes in medical and surgical conditions of the retina and vitreous, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment repair, endophthalmitis, uveitis, and retinal vascular diseases. She has been involved in clinical research on diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. She has also served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology (adjunct faculty) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Liu is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is fluent in Taiwanese.
