About Me
Dr. Juan Horta-Santini is a board-certified ophthalmologist whose professional interests include cataract surgery, dry eyes, laser eye surgery, and ocular allergies. His work on eye care has been published widely in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at ophthalmology conferences. Dr. Horta-Santini brings knowledge, charisma, and delicate touch to each patient encounter, creating a customizable plan for each individual.
Dr. Horta-Santini was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and developed expertise in international medicine through medical missions and clinical rotations in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and France. These experiences allowed him to help people from different backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. He chose to establish his practice in Queens, one of the most diverse boroughs in the nation.
He received a scholarship to attend Washington University in St. Louis, where he majored in Biology and minored in French. He obtained his medical degree and completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Puerto Rico, where he was chosen as chief resident. Dr. Horta-Santini pursued a fellowship in glaucoma at Tufts/New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, training with leaders in the field.
