Born in Canton, China, Dr. John Lim has lived in Houston since the age of nine. He attended undergraduate school at The University of Texas and the University of Houston, where he also received a post-graduate degree in optometry. After practicing optometry for two years, he earned a medical degree from UT Health San Antonio Medical School. He completed an internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston and an ophthalmology residency at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Board certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Lim has practiced ophthalmology since 1982. His primary clinical interests are general ophthalmology with emphasis on small-incision cataract surgery and glaucoma management. He also treats cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, eye pain and other vision issues. He performs lens implants (intraocular lens implantation) and LASIK surgery.
