Dr. Jeremy Valentine

Dr. Gregory G. Gensheimer is an ophthalmologist with MaineHealth, providing medical and surgical eye care focused on protecting long-term vision. He helps patients navigate everything from routine eye concerns to more complex changes in sight through careful exams, accurate diagnosis, and treatment plans tailored to each person’s daily needs. Dr. Gensheimer completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital and earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is board certified in ophthalmology. Within MaineHealth Ophthalmology, he evaluates and treats a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, infections and inflammation of the eye, and sudden or gradual changes in vision. He emphasizes prevention, early detection, and thoughtful follow-up so patients understand what to watch for and when to seek care.

Dr. Martin D. Whitaker is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and the founder and Medical Director of Riverside Eye Center, serving patients in Norway and Lewiston, Maine. He provides care for common and complex eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration, and also offers routine eye examinations. With an engineer’s background, Dr. Whitaker has a special interest in using new technology to improve diagnosis and treatment. At Riverside Eye Center he has incorporated advanced diagnostic testing such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and offers retinal therapies including intravitreal injections—such as Avastin, Macugen, and Lucentis—for macular degeneration when appropriate. Dr. Whitaker earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed ophthalmology residency training at the Eye Institute of the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is involved with local hospitals in western Maine.

Dr. Linda Schumacher-Feero is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has cared for patients in central Maine for many years. She joined Atlee Gleaton Eye Care in 1999 and is known for thoughtful, attentive visits that focus on both comfort and long-term eye health. She has a special interest in evaluating and treating dry eye symptoms, helping patients find practical relief and a plan they can follow at home. Dr. Schumacher-Feero was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Allegheny College, she attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She has served as teaching faculty at Veterans Administration medical centers in Togus and Washington, DC, and she volunteers with EyeCare America through the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She strives to deliver careful, evidence-based care with clear guidance at each step.
