About Me
Dr. Jay Federman is a vitreoretinal surgeon with a focus on treating retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal detachments. He has been a pioneer in vitreoretinal surgery, developing one of the first automated microsurgical instruments for such procedures and holding multiple patents for surgical devices. Throughout his career, Dr.
Federman has conducted research and served as a principal investigator on numerous grants, advancing the understanding and treatment of retinal conditions. He is board certified in ophthalmology and has held leadership roles at Wills Eye Institute and other institutions. Dr. Federman is dedicated to leveraging telemedicine to expand access to ophthalmic care. He sees patients at Mid Atlantic Retina, where he continues to apply his extensive expertise to provide comprehensive retinal care.
