About Me
Dr. Wang is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon caring for adults with diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous. Raised in the Bay Area, he earned a BS in bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley (Highest Honors), completed medical school at Harvard, and stayed at Massachusetts Eye and Ear for both ophthalmology residency and a retina fellowship. He has served on the faculty at Yale and is now an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF, where he teaches residents and vitreoretinal surgery fellows.At Northern California Retina Vitreous Associates, Dr. Wang treats age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular pucker and holes, vein occlusions, and inflammatory retinal disease. He has particular expertise with optical coherence tomography angiography and brings a research-informed, compassionate approach to patient care. Patients value his clear explanations, thoughtful treatment planning, and close coordination with referring eye care providers so each person understands their options and feels supported every step of the way.
