Dr. James Kohler

James M. Kohler, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon who treats the full range of retinal and macular disease, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, and macular hole or epiretinal membrane. He offers comprehensive in-office care such as retinal imaging, laser, and intravitreal injections, and performs advanced surgery when needed. Dr. Kohler is known for thoughtful counseling and steady hands in the operating room, and he remains active in research, conferences, and resident education.

A Minnesota native, Dr. Kohler completed medical school and ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota before moving to the University of Utah’s John A. Moran Eye Center for a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery. He brings that experience to provide precise, patient-first care for retinal conditions across the spectrum.
