About Me
Dr. James C. Folk is a vitreoretinal specialist and professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa, where he holds the Judith (Gardner) and Donald H. Beisner, M.D., Professorship in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery.
He treats a wide spectrum of retinal and vitreous disorders, including retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, vitreous hemorrhages, macular holes, and retinal vein occlusions. Dr. Folk completed his medical education at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and his ophthalmology residency at Eye & Ear Hospital. He then pursued advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. As a faculty member, he is dedicated to educating future ophthalmologists and advancing the field through his clinical expertise.
