Dr. Isi Esquenazi

Dr. Karina Somohano is a fellowship-trained cornea, cataract, and refractive surgeon with Florida Vision Institute. She cares for patients with corneal disease and dry eye and offers advanced cataract procedures with modern lens options. Her practice blends meticulous surgical technique with an emphasis on education, so each person understands their diagnosis, treatment choices, and what to expect during recovery. A South Florida native fluent in Spanish, she is excited to serve the communities where she grew up. Dr. Somohano earned her MD from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed ophthalmology residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, and pursued a Cornea and External Disease fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Her academic work includes publications on corneal cross-linking and ocular surface health. She is dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s visual goals.

Dr. Masako Chen, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained cornea, external disease, and refractive surgeon. She performs LASIK, PRK, and ICL procedures; cataract surgery including laser-assisted techniques; ocular surface reconstruction; pterygium excision; and corneal transplantation (DMEK/DSAEK/PK). Her approach blends technical precision with clear communication so patients understand their options and recovery every step of the way. Dr. Chen completed ophthalmology residency at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, serving as chief resident and earning the Austin T. Gray Memorial Scholarship Award, followed by fellowship training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Cornea, External Diseases, and Refractive Surgery. She serves as Associate Residency Program Director and Director of the Comprehensive Eye Clinic at NYEE and was recognized as a United Hospital Fund Quality Improvement Champion in 2023. Dr. Chen is dedicated to patient-centered care and education, helping each person choose the safest, most effective path to better vision.

Dr. Ansuya Deosaran is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery. She cares for adults seeking sharper vision and healthier ocular surfaces, with particular expertise in premium laser and refractive cataract surgery, dry eye disease, and the medical and surgical management of corneal disorders. In addition to subspecialty care, she practices comprehensive ophthalmology and routinely manages glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Deosaran earned her medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed a medical internship at UF Health/Shands Jacksonville. She went on to an ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, followed by a cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where she also taught cataract surgery to residents at the John Cochran VA. Active in professional societies and research presentations, she prioritizes clear communication and compassionate, patient-centered care at every visit.
