Dr. Ines Maria De Carvalho Lains

Dr. Ines Maria De Carvalho Lains is a vitreoretinal surgeon and clinician-scientist in the Retina Service at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. She specializes in treating the full spectrum of medical and surgical retinal diseases, including retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, providing individualized care plans based on the latest evidence.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Lains is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and has a strong research background with a PhD in Health Sciences. She is a recipient of the NIH K12 Mentored Clinical Scientist Development Program Award, supporting her work as a scientist. Her training includes ophthalmology residency through Harvard Medical School and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
