About Me
Dr. Ilya Leskov is a board-certified, fellowship-trained specialist in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. He diagnoses and treats conditions affecting the retina, macula, and vitreous, combining careful in-office evaluation with advanced medical and surgical retina care when needed. Patients see him for problems such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular occlusions, uveitis, macular holes, and retinal tears or detachments.
Dr. Leskov also has a special interest in managing complications from cataract surgery, including displaced intraocular lenses. He completed a combined MD-PhD program at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by ophthalmology residency training at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Northwestern University. He is fluent in Russian and French and sees patients in SUNY Downstate faculty practices in Brooklyn.
