Dr. Hugo Quiroz-Mercado is an ophthalmologist specializing in retinal and macular diseases, including diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. With over 25 years of experience, he focuses on treating complex retinal conditions and helping patients manage severe retinopathy and its complications through advanced surgical and medical care.

He currently practices as a retinal surgeon at Hospital para Evitar la Ceguera en México and Medica Sur Hospital, while also serving as a professor at the University of Colorado, Denver. Dr. Quiroz-Mercado previously directed the ophthalmology department at Denver Health Medical Center, where he advanced training and research in vitreoretinal surgery, and now leads research initiatives aimed at preventing and treating diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity.
