About Me
Dr. Gina Mahatma is a vitreo-retinal surgery fellow at Retina Consultants, providing specialized care for retinal conditions. She joined the practice in July 2023 after completing her ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center and a transitional year at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn. She provides comprehensive evaluation and management of retinal diseases, utilizing the latest surgical and medical treatments.
Originally from the DFW area in Texas, Dr. Mahatma graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics and Biology. She then earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and also holds an MBA from Rice University with a focus on healthcare. She has been involved in medical education and research throughout her training, including collaborations with Retina Consultants and their past fellows.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Mahatma enjoys exploring the outdoors, traveling, and trying new foods in the Albany region.
