Dr. Gene Kim
About Me
Dr. Gene Kim is an attending physician and Assistant Professor specializing in Ophthalmology at Montefiore Einstein. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist with a clinical specialty in the treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. His focus is on the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses, and glaucoma laser procedures.
Dr. Kim received his Bachelor of Science in biology and psychology from Duke University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed a transitional year internship at Oakwood Hospital, ophthalmology residency at the Baylor College of Medicine Cullen Eye Institute, and a glaucoma fellowship at the Columbia University Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute.
His research emphasizes the safety and efficacy of MIGS, post-operative outcomes after cataract surgery, and ocular coherence tomography imaging in glaucoma management. Dr. Kim shares his findings through peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and presentations. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
