Dr. Eugene Milder

Dr. Eugene A. Milder is a retina specialist at North Carolina Retina Associates. He believes in forming trusting doctor-patient relationships and empowering patients through education and communication. He treats a wide range of retinal conditions, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and vitreous hemorrhage. Dr. Milder's goal is to reduce patient anxiety by ensuring they understand their eye disease and available treatment options, encouraging them to take an active role in their care.

Dr. Milder's path to ophthalmology began as a Navy ROTC student at the University of Virginia. He chose medicine over aviation and specialized in retina, drawn by the combination of medicine and surgery and the ability to make a meaningful impact on patients' quality of life. He completed his retina fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital and his ophthalmology residency at the Navy Medical Center in San Diego. After serving as an aviation medicine doctor in the Navy, he joined NC Retina Associates in 2018.
